SUBSTITUTE ASSOCIATE – District Wide

General Education and Special Education

 

Purpose Statement

The position of Substitute Associate is to help provide for the physical and instructional needs of students in general education and special education.  Substitutes are required to perform all of the duties of the staff member that they are subbing for.

Daily Rate of Pay:  $13.25/hour

 

Reports To:        Building Principal and/or teacher assigned to support

 

Wage/Hour Status:  Temporary/Seasonal

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Experience working with children, preferred

 

Job Goal:

To help students acquire skills in order to contribute to their development as productive and responsible citizens

Essential Functions

  • Maintains the established routines and procedures of the school and classroom.
  • Follow plans outlined and described in the associate sub notes.
  • Consults with the building principal before initiating procedures not specified in the sub plans notes.
  • Follows policies, rules, and procedures to which regular employees are subject.
  • Develops and maintains an effective level of communication with appropriate personnel.
  • Maintain confidentiality.
  • Performs other duties as may from time to time be assigned by the Superintendent or Principal.

Other Functions

  • Responds to emergency situations for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns and/or directing to appropriate personnel for resolution.
  • Performs other related duties, as assigned, for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.

Working Environment

Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:

Maintain emotional control under stress. The usual and customary methods of performing the position functions require the following physical demands:  some lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; and significant fine finger dexterity. Working conditions may include extreme temperatures and humidity.  Hazards may include exposure to communicable diseases.
