Building Automation Systems (BAS)/HVAC Specialist
Purpose Statement:
The Building Automation Systems/HVAC Specialist will be responsible for district wide building automations and HVAC systems. This person is responsible for developing and monitoring the automation system's management program for the purpose of reducing utility consumption under administrative-approved Policy & Guidelines. Basic areas of responsibility include: Oversight of building systems including but not limited to HVAC, lighting controls, and other duties assigned by the MEP Coordinator. From an indoor environmental perspective, this position shall ensure guideline temperatures, fresh air exchanges/ ventilation, indoor air quality per ASHRAE recommendations, and safety, and welfare of all District occupants.

Wage/Hour Status: Exempt
Hours: Monday - Friday 7:00 A.M. - 4:00 P.M.; must be available for on-call hours Minimum Qualifications:
- Minimum 5 years of experience maintaining/installing HVAC Systems
- Minimum 3 years of experience with building automations systems (BAS) systems
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Proficiency in BAS software and programming languages.
- Strong understanding of HVAC systems, building controls, and network communications
- Successful candidates are subject to post-offer pre-employment physical
Preferred Qualifications:
- Associates Degree in Applied Sciences or 60+ credit hours with certificate in related field
- Certifications in relevant BAS technologies (e.g., Tridium, Siemens, Johnson Controls) are preferred.
Essential Functions
- Design and implement building automation systems (BAS) including HVAC, lighting, security, and other critical systems.
- Integrate, program, document and control existing building automation systems including, but not limited to, HVAC controls, security, fire alarms, access controls, lighting controls and elevator management systems.
- Install BAS components, ensuring proper integration, operation, and calibration with existing systems.
- Perform regular maintenance and inspections of BAS to ensure optimal performance.
- Partner with the Director of Operations in the development and updating of user manuals, training materials and standard operating procedures in relation to the BAS/HVAC department.
- Oversight and management of the district HVAC Department.
- Effectively using code to safely and correctly control all Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning Equipment as well as lighting and other special applications.
- Program and implement building automation systems, system expansions and system modernization.
- Troubleshoot problems with building automation systems and coordinate solutions with outside contractors and/or in-house technicians and specialists.
- Provide technical support and guidance to facilities departments.
- Consult and collaborate with tradespeople and engineers on technical issues to ensure that maintenance and installations are planned efficiently and implemented effectively.
- Work is typically performed in both office and field settings.
- Fieldwork may involve exposure to various building environments, including construction sites and operational facilities.

- Maintain computer proficiency through professional meetings, seminars, and conferences and investigate new advancements in associated technology.
